Matching Process

From beginning to end, we take the hard work and guesswork out of your family hiring a stellar Nanny. To begin the process, we will ask you a number of questions to hone in on the details of your ideal placement including the provider’s personality traits and characteristics, their approach to teaching and childcare, and their perspective on COVID. Afterward, we will send a $199 search fee invoice and non-disclosure/non-solicitation agreement via email. The business day after fulfillment, we begin creating your Family for Review which is the preliminary document qualified candidates recieve to confirm interest in meeting your family. In this document, we tell the story of your family, your values, and detail the kind of provider that fits your household's culture and ideals. We maintain the utmost discretion and do not relay sensitive information such as your names or address until you confirm that you would like to meet a candidate for a consultation. Upon our team receiving a candidate’s confirmation of interest in meeting your family, we complete an in-depth review to confirm they are indeed a great fit. After verifying that they are, we will send their Nanny Profile via email which will detail who the provider is, their education, experience, interests and more! You have an opportunity to meet each candidate for a virtual or in-home consultation. This is typically a 45-minute to 1-hour sitdown interview in which we recommend asking any questions you would like to ensure chemistry between them and your family. The candidate will do the same.
Upon this going well, you can facilitate up to five trial appointments per Nanny. These are typically 3 hours or more, occur in-home with at least one parent present and provide your family and Nanny with a hands-on experience with each other. To ensure a successful long-term match, we require a minumum of two trial appointments to be faciliated before making an offer of employment. Trial appointments are billed at the Nanny's hourly rate and a $35/appointment fee. Upon confirming you would like to make an offer of employment, we relay the offer to the Nanny, confirm her acceptance and draft a comprehensive Nanny agreement that is tailored to your family's unique needs. It will detail compensation, job duties, COVID precautions and much more! We send the agreement to you first for changes and approval. After obtaining your approval, we will send it to the Nanny for review, approval and faciliate any negotiations. Upon securing approval from both parties, we will send your Nanny Placement Fee invoice, Nanny Placement Agreement and Nanny Agreement for a final electronic signature then walk your family step by step through the process of becoming a household employer!

If not,

We are happy to send an infographic via email that provides a comprehensive review of the information I've detailed via phone, links to our sample curricula and a review of next steps. Is ---- your correct email address?

COVID-19

If the family asks a question about COVID, review our COVID protocol.

  • Social Distancing: We instruct all of our Providers to maintain strict social distancing in their personal lives including contact with friends and family. We continually remind them of the importance of this and duty we have to protect every family and child we care for.
  • Daily temperature checks: Our Providers perform daily temperature checks and submit them to us upon clock in to each appointment. They must receive a reading below 99.5. If they receive reading at or above this or have any additional symptoms, we will deploy them to a number of COVID Testing Sites in Houston.
    • If your Nanny ever has a high temperature or gets tested, you will know and we’ll relay all test results to you.
  • Wash hands: Our Nannies wash their hands upon arrival to every appointment and at least once every hour throughout the appointments.
  • Disinfectants: We have equipped our Providers with EPA approved disinfectant wipes that are used to sanitize experiment materials and personal items that they bring into your home such as purses and water bottles.
  • PPE Kits: We’ve delivered Personal Protective Equipment Kits to all of our Providers which contain masks, gloves, hand sanitizers and thermometers.
  • Exclusivity: Families on the more risk averse side can opt into our Exclusivity Program which means that your Nanny only works for your family. This is offered at a $2/hour increase for 30 or more hours per week and $3/hour for 29 or less hours per week.
We do match on the basis of COVID so if we have a lax family, we would not match them with a Nanny who is risk-averse in regard to COVID.

If they don't ask about COVID,

If you’d like to learn more about our COVID protocol, you can visit our website at stemnannies.com/covid or I am happy to relay it in this call.

STEM Nanny vs Nanny Placement

We hire for our company holistically so for a Nanny Placement, you are matched within the same pool of high quality candidates as our STEM Nannies and Private Educators and can expect to meet candidates with previous Early Childhood Teaching or education experience. Our STEM Nanny and Nanny Placement programs differ in employer status, STEM projects and hourly rate. A STEM Nanny arrives with our signature STEM projects and experiments to curate exciting days of fun for your little ones. STEM Nannies are employees of The STEM Nanny Company and as a result, we take care of all payroll and tax requirements and you pay a flat hourly rate. Within a Nanny Placement, you can secure a Nanny at a rate that is $4 - 8/hour lower than the STEM Nanny rate. The Nanny would be an employee of your household so you'll faciliate payroll and all applicable tax requirements though our recommended payroll system makes tax deductions and submissions very easy. Nanny Placements do not arrive with our STEM projects and experiments though our STEM Nanny Kit is in development and will transform any Nanny into a STEM Nanny.
